Making red wine fantasy movies vinegar and best of CRAFT download adventure

Red wine vinegar is really easy to make at home. All you need is some leftover red wine, some water, red wine vinegar mother, and a few tools. You can look for red wine vinegar at your local homebrewing shop, but mine was out, so I ordered it online. It’s basically “live” red wine vinegar which contains the bacteria Acetobacter, which eats alcohol and turns it into acetic acid, the tangy flavor we know as vinegar. This project appears as an article in CRAFT, Vol. 9 by Alastair Bland, which you can preview in our Digital Edition.

Finally - Friday Sketch! #48

OK here’s the Friday Sketch a day late!! I got most of my stuff moved in to my new studio - I’m just waiting on my mom’s husband - he’s cutting some wood for me so I can put shelves in the closet to store all my cardstock and patterned paper. Once that’s done then I can take pics (mebbe even a video - we’ll see tho) to show y’all!!

It felt weird stamping in there this morning - it’s nice of course but everything is in a different spot from where it used to be and I kept reaching for things that weren’t there LOL!

Bella Heart Balloons V day Sketch Card by AmyR

I really liked the layout I did on this card I posted last week - I made up the sketch for it and decided to use it for this sketch challenge :o)

This card uses Balloonabella from Stamping Bella (did you see there’s a free shipping special going on ’till the 11th?? You can find out more here <—-click! I just found out about that now and I’m gonna be in trouble - there’s 2 new BELLAs and huggabugs and all kinds of stampy goodness. ACK!).

ANYWHO - I stamped the Bella, masked her feet (tutorial here) then grounded her by stamping one of the clear ovals from A Muse.

Bella Heart Balloons V day Sketch Card Copics by AmyR

i used some copics to color in the image, leaving the dress as i stamped and study pieced that using this mme paper from the fully smitten assemblage.

I decided to glitter up the balloons so I used my Quickie Glue pen and some Martha Stewart glitter to make ‘em all sparkly.

I added some May Arts ribbon and a couple of Basic Grey Eva buttons (tied on with embroidery thread - it was a leetle tricky tying the little bows with my nails but I did it! LOVE how that turned out).

Bella Heart Balloons V day Sketch Card Inside by AmyR

i finished off the inside of the index card using the same patterned papers and some brown and vanilla cardstock.

I die cut a little heart with my nestabilities die and covered that with the same MS glitter and that was it!

Supplies

CS: Vanilla, Brown, Prism Light Pink, MME Quite Smitten Patterned Papers.

Catalog Company looking for some good PR

You might remember a business oriented blog I wrote earlier this month, detailing how our company has made our own list of New Year’s Resolutions for our Business.

Molly from the bachelor

From a business standpoint, Catalogs.com has taken many new directions for the New Year. I’m actually in the process and throes of interviewing Public Relations firms and doing mega research on figuring out exactly what to look for when hiring a PR firm for your company. Even though I’ve worked for ad agencies and PR agencies in the past, that was twenty some odd years ago and I’m learning that times have certainly changed.

What does it take to get some good PR in this town?

I found it very interesting to learn that in today’s market, the current PR trends have shifted to a focus of blending the traditional avenues of print and media (newspapers, magazines, tv and radio) with online media. The new media revolution is upon us and there’s no stopping it. The World Wide Web has changed it all for the better and the new and improved reinvention of PR has been dubbed Web PR 2.0.

The media landscape is now wide open and not only centered on traditional media, but keeping a watchful eye on the ever evolving blogosphere where we have the opportunities to publish and share information to communicate more directly with our audience, touching our customers directly.

We’ve had meetings with several PR agencies and are continuing our due diligence in finding the perfect PR 2.0 firm for us.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

the grub is first-rate real simple: little pains, little time, with a doll-sized help from the inventory. the potato wedges are from a frozen package (although you could easily make your own), but the toppings make them sort of taco local-ish. and we’ve definitely made a version of their pigskins in a blanket before. gospel the timing of publication publishing, this story obviously went to copy long before we knew which teams would be playing on sunday. so the beer list has one for every team in the nfl. there’s beermann’s rip roarin’ red ale for the arizona cardinals and iron city beer for the pittsburgh steelers, but you could offer beers representing your own (sadly, eliminated) home team or those of your guests. • read the article: troop a winning football party, at realsimple.com • fetch the beer list: football troupe beers affiliated: wonderful bowl signatory food: alternatives to chips and salsa (images: quentin bacon in behalf of real simple)

Ad Promoting Employee Free Choice Act Directed At Journos

The pro-labor organization American Rights at Work announced today that they will be launching an advertising campaign to promote the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), the centerpiece of which is a television ad called “The Real Secret.” The advertisement does a succinct job in laying out its central point, which is that the conversation of EFCA has thus far been dominated by big business, which has tirelessly and falsely contended that EFCA would deny workers the right to unionize via a secret ballot. In reality, EFCA will allow workers to do just that, but on their own terms, not the terms of their bosses.

But, to echo Greg Sargent, what’s really interesting about this campaign is that it’s not one that seeks to exclusively affect public opinion. Rather, as American Rights at Work’s press release makes clear, the ads are specifically targeted at journalists: “Our goal is to make sure that betway opinion leaders understand that the smear campaign on the secret ballot is a totally false distraction.” To that end, they will hit Beltway opinion-shapers where they live, airing this Sunday on the morning political talk-show circuit.

[WATCH.]

TRANSCRIPT

Corporate greed: it’s caused a meltdown of our economy. Just look at the news, or your retirement account. Now, greedy CEO’s want to prevent workers from joining unions to level the playing field. Their new scheme to keep wages low? Spreading lies about the Employee Free Choice Act. The truth is, the Employee Free Choice Act absolutely protects workers’ right to choose a secret ballot election. But the choice would be the workers’. Not their bosses. That’s the secret big business doesn’t want you to know.
